United Divas Inc. is a charitable non-profit organization, dedicated to empowering people to be artistic leaders, professionals, innovators and role models for both aspiring and practicing artists, with an emphasis on helping women achieve their goals as a creative professional. Services include educational programs, a scholarship, workshops and special events in support of this mission.

What we do

A time for women to nurture, utilize and share their strengths has arrived to shape the future. We might call ourselves divas, but we are just a group of women artists who take pride in our hard work and achievements. Originally targeting just women, the organization has grown to offer opportunities for people with career goals seeking to further their education, regardless of gender. The United Divas Creative Scholarship program responds to the increasing number of students of the arts who need financial aid to attend college. We spotlight women artists as examples of emerging female role models and exhibit mostly women artists at our events. Most of our workshops have been developed by United Divas artists and geared towards emerging creative professionals.

How it began

Founded in 2001 as an artist collective, United Divas was created by Jan Tompkins as a tribute to her mother and to single mothers everywhere. The determination and perseverance her mother displayed as a parent and as a woman is the inspiration for United Divas, which became a 501(c)3 non-profit in 2003.

As a result of the many hardships she and several of her peers experienced in college, the United Divas scholarship fund was created in 2008 to help students of the arts facing financial hardship. Click here for more information about the scholarship fund and ways to contribute.

United Divas celebrates the accomplishments of various female artists with the Diva of the Month award. Every month or two, United Divas recognizes a pioneering female artist of multiple-disciplines. To date, United Divas has recognized more than forty women. These women are leaders in their respective creative fields.
